Day 1: Arrival in Leh
Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport. Upon landing at KBR airport in Leh, your journey begins. The snow-covered mountains seen from the plane window are a magnificent preview of the beauty that awaits you. (If flying from Delhi, try to grab a window seat for a breathtaking view of the Himalayas from the sky.) Located in Leh, India, Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is one of the highest airports in the world, situated at an elevation of 3,256 meters. This airport is a crucial entry point for adventurers and trekkers seeking to explore the Himalayas. It is named after a revered Ladakhi monk and is known for its stunning mountainous surroundings. After completing all formalities at the airport & collecting your baggage, you will exit the airport, where our company representative will meet you. Depending on the airport's congestion, this entire process may take up to 2 hours. Once we're done here, our company representatives will happily escort you to your hotel in Thiksey.
Thiksey In the evening, take a stroll around the area, taking in the tranquil landscape and the unique atmosphere of Thiksey. You will meet your trekking guide at your hotel, and he will brief you about the upcoming trek, setting the tone for the adventure ahead. Thiksey Village is an idyllic spot for an acclimatisation walk in the Indus Valley near Leh. Traditional Ladakhi homes and vibrant prayer flags set against majestic, barren hills offer a tranquil Himalayan backdrop. Your day ends at Dakpa House, where relaxation meets tradition. Enjoy a dinner of Indian delicacies, culminating in a peaceful retreat to Dakpa House's comfortable rooms. The path leads you through varied terrains into the rugged beauty of these mountains.
